Kenosha, July 25th, 1998- Part 1

Saturday. The big show day! There is simply nothing to compare to rounding the corner of a nearby building to see that vast ocean of glimmering chrome and paint! Seven hundred cars plus!! I blew through 8 rolls of film that day and thought about getting more! Al was no slouch, either, snapping away! We made a good team, as he's more the Rambler-models lover while I'm heavy into the powerhouse cars and later small models. We'll exchange pics later to complete our sets. Of course, Sue was on the field with her Rambler, as was the excellent Donohue/Penske '71 Javelin replica (actually a '73 Cardin AMX), built by Bill Butterfield, and so many other beautiful rides. The pictures hopefully do this day justice....and here they are....

Hornets and a '78 Concord above, '78 AMX below

A rare '79 Concord hatchback above left with a Spirit and Spirit GT.
Below, one built-to-the-max Spirit!

Eagles, Eagles and more Eagles.
The Silver sedan, above right, has just 1200 miles on it! WOW!!

Hurst SC/Ramblers and Rebel MACHINES were very well represented.

Early Javelins appeared in many forms..stock, race modified...and just plain wild

Good luck ever finding three..count 'em...THREE '70 Trans Am Javelins
in one place at the same time, ever again!

Two slick modified Ambassadors of very different eras.

And it wasn't just cars that showed up!

And if you wonder what the whole Saturday scene looked like if you were standing there
(and you don't mind a long download), check out this panoramic photo!

On to the 'Humpster' Javelins and AMXs...
Paul Dwyer's Kenosha Photos page shows lots of cars I missed!
